On October 7, 2022, the Advanced Technologies Academy seniors entered the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) High School Video Contest. For this state-wide contest, the seniors worked together in teams of six. The video submitted by the team of Martin Engelbrecht, Cian McHugh, Emma Moore, Simon Stewart, Jonah McLean, and Romeo Yang was chosen as a finalist in the contest. They were invited to attend the NCSBA Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, November 15 in Greensboro, NC. At the ceremony, the students would learn if they placed first, second or third place.

These students won third place and received a check for $1,000 for the Advanced Technologies Academy. During the awards ceremony the three finalist videos were shown and the students were recognized for their awesome work. After the ceremony the students enjoyed a really nice dinner at the Outback Steak House.

The NCSBA asked high school students to create a video showing how together, we can go higher. When we come together, we are able to achieve so much more. The purpose of this video contest was for students to collaborate with classmates to create videos telling the world about: how something was accomplished because of togetherness, collaboration was successful, a united front achieved change, and/or how teamwork has impacted student success. The requirements for the video submissions were the video length should be 60 seconds or less, the video quality should be 1080p or higher, and the video must be an original work.

I am so proud of the work these students have done and looking forward to trying again next year.
