I would like to present a selection of graphic design projects created by students in the Freshmen class of the Advanced Technologies Academy. In the following projects, the students were being introduced to digital media topics such as terminology, media formats, career paths, and ethical issues. The students were also introduced to creative expression and learning the foundations of graphic design by using the software Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.

The Mini Cereal Box Design with Artificial Intelligence Tools
I introduced a new graphic design project for the freshmen this year, focused on package design. Titled the “Mini Cereal Box Design Project,” this assignment challenged students to invent an original cereal product and create the packaging artwork and layout.
The project requirements were threefold: 1) Generate the primary image elements like the cereal itself using a text-to-image AI tool, 2) Use AI tools to produce supplementary design elements such as nutrition facts and ingredient lists, and 3) Professionally compose all elements into a cohesive box design layout utilizing Adobe InDesign.
This multi-step project provided students with valuable experience exploring and experimenting with cutting-edge generative AI technologies for creative applications. By having them design original cereal packaging from concept to completion, the assignment fostered skills in ideation, AI tool utilization, and software layout proficiency. The Mini Cereal Box Project exemplified the Academy’s commitment to offering innovative, technology-driven curricula that prepare students for future design careers.
